How Our Process Works
Bringing home an Acadia puppy is a thoughtful process. Megan works personally with every family to make sure each puppy is the right fit — and that you feel confident and prepared from day one.
Submit Your Application
Start by filling out our puppy application. This helps Megan understand your lifestyle, home environment, and what you're looking for in a dog. There's no commitment required — it's simply the first step in getting to know each other.

Once your application is received, Megan will reach out to discuss available and upcoming litters, answer your questions, and help match you with the right puppy. She's happy to talk by phone, text, or email — whatever works best for you.

When you're ready to reserve a spot in a litter, a $700 deposit holds your place. Deposits are applied toward the purchase price of your puppy. Megan will walk you through litter timing, pick order, and what to expect as your puppy grows.

Set up an area where your puppy can sleep or stay safely when you have your hands full. The Puppy Playbook has more details. You might also want to build or repair outdoor fencing and consider installing a dog door. A little preparation goes a long way — puppies thrive when they have a consistent, safe space from the moment they arrive. Once your pickup date is agreed upon, we will schedule a 15–20 minute appointment for your family. We will introduce you to your puppy, collect any balance due, sign contracts, and answer any last questions. We wish we could send your puppy to you with our amazing UPS driver, Lisa — unfortunately, it doesn't work that way with animals.
Can't Make It to Seal Cove?
If you, a friend, or a family member cannot make it to Seal Cove, ME to pick up your puppy, here are some options:
- Pick up in person at our Seal Cove location — we'd love to meet you!
- Fly into Bar Harbor Airport — we will deliver to this airport.
- Fly into Bangor (BGR) — rent a car for the 1.5-hour drive.
- Fly into Portland (PWM) — rent a car for the 3.5-hour drive.
- Hire a Puppy Driver — we are happy to work with any pet transportation service you arrange, or choose from our list of local, independent drivers.
- Hire a Flight Nanny — a professional pet escort who travels with your puppy in-cabin on a commercial flight to your nearest airport.
Ongoing Support
Acadia families are never on their own. Megan is available by phone or text for questions as your puppy grows, and our Resource Library is packed with guidance on training, health, grooming, nutrition, and more.
