English Goldendoodles have English Golden Retriever as part of their bloodline. At Acadia Goldendoodles, we generally use a light colored Poodle, for that signature "English" look. But that doesn't have to be the case. English Goldendoodles can come in as many different colors as Poodles do.
Their temperament combines the friendly, patient nature of the English Golden Retriever with the Poodle's intelligence, physical grace and alertness.
English Goldendoodles can be F1, F1b, F2 or Multi-generational. They can also have a variety of coat types, and come in a range of sizes. As long as the pedigree consists of English Golden Retriever and Poodle, a dog can be considered and English Goldendoodle.
Acadia Goldendoodles is a proud breeder of English Goldendoodles. Our mission is to produce and raise the healthiest puppies possible, with the stable temperaments which make them ideal for companion dogs, therapy dogs and service dogs. The influence of the English-type Golden Retriever in these English Goldendoodles helps with all of our goals. Our favorite factors are the heavier bone structure, blockier heads, decreased cancer risk, and the calmer demeanor of the English Golden Retriever. The striking good looks are an added bonus. We understand what it takes to produce the very best, and almost always have English Goldendoodles for sale.

English Golden Retrievers, also known as English Cream or White Golden Retrievers, are a variation of the Golden Retriever breed. They are not a separate breed of dog. They generally have a light cream-colored coat, which is thicker and softer than the coat of the American golden retriever. In addition to the coat and color, the English variety tends to be shorter and stockier than their longer-legged American counterparts. This variation of the breed has its origins in Europe, specifically in the United Kingdom and Russia, where the lighter color is part of the written standard, so is acceptable in the show ring. When they became popular in the US, they were being imported from Europe, so are referred to as English or European Creams.
The genetic combination of two completely unrelated dogs, can produce what's commonly known as "hybrid vigor," where the offspring are healthier than either parent breed due to increased genetic diversity. Rather than true "hybrid vigor," the health advantage of the F1 Goldendoodle is actually due to a LACK of inbreeding depression (lower level of fitness) in the population Because they often escape the lower levels of fitness seen in purebreds, the overall health of the population is comparatively better, leading people to use the term "vigor."
English Goldendoodles typically have one of three coat types: straight (similar to Golden Retrievers), wavy, or curly (more Poodle-like). Wavy coats are most common and usually the easiest to maintain. Curly coats require more intensive grooming similar to Poodles, while straight coats may shed more like Golden Retrievers.
Most English Goldendoodles have some degree of wave or curl, which helps trap loose hair and reduce shedding compared to Golden Retrievers. However, they're not guaranteed to be non-shedding, and individual dogs can vary significantly.
As a responsible breeder, we prioritize the well-being and health of our F1 and F1b English Goldendoodle puppies. We raise our puppies with love and science on the beautiful coast of Maine, ensuring they are given the best care possible.
At Acadia Goldendoodles, health is a top priority. That is why all our puppies are health tested and come with clearances from reputable organizations such as the AKC and GANA. These certifications ensure that your puppy is in excellent health and comes from healthy bloodlines.
Not only are these puppies physically healthy, but many of them have also been trained to serve a greater purpose. Several of Acadia Goldendoodles' English Golden Retriever and English Goldendoodle puppies have been trained as therapy, service, or emotional support dogs. This is a testament to the intelligence, temperament and versatility of our breeding program, and the way we raise our English Goldendoodles.
Acadia Goldendoodles also offers a variety of sizes for our English Goldendoodle puppies: mini, medium, and standard. As noted earlier, we produce both F1 and F1b mixes of the English Goldendoodle. This allows you to choose the perfect size and coat type for your lifestyle and living space. One parent is always an English Golden Retriever or an English Goldendoodle, the size is changed by using a smaller or larger Poodle as the other parent.
Acadia Goldendoodles also ensures that all of our puppies and dogs are well-fed with quality food and lots of exercise outside in the fresh New England air. This is essential for maintaining their health and happiness.
